The X Factor Series 8 - LIVE show weekend 1

DAYS LEFT FOR 2ND X FACTOR LIVE SHOW: Only 5 days to go!

DAYS LEFT FOR 2ND X FACTOR LIVE RESULTS' SHOW: Only 6 days to go!

The first LIVE Show saw 16 acts take to that X Factor stage and do all they could to convince the judges/mentors that they had what it takes to remain in the competition.

Last-night's first LIVE Results' Show saw the final 16 whittled-down to the final 12, as it was the night the judges' had to decide on who stays and who goes!

After a night of performances from the 16 acts on Saturday-night and after guest-star performances from last-year's winner Matt Cardle and US star Cee Lo Green, it was time for the contestants to discover their fate in the competition.

The judges' had to choose 3 acts to put-through to next-week's show and first-up, it was Louis Walsh.

The first-act Louis decided to put-through was.....SAMI!

The next-act the Over 25's mentor had decided to put through was.....KITTY!

So there was only 1 place left and it was between Jonjo and Johnny and after a while, Louis decided to put-through.....JOHNNY!

That was the final 3 of the Over 25's selected but it meant the end of the X Factor journey for Jonjo Kerr.

With the Over 25's settled, it was Gary's turn to choose his final 3 acts!

The first act from the Boys' category that Gary decided to put-through was.....MARCUS!

A second-act was to be chosen and the Take That star had put-through.....CRAIG!

So it was only Frankie and James' left standing-on that stage, waiting to hear which of them had secured their berth in next-week's LIVE show.

The final-act to form the final 3 of the Boys' category was.....FRANKIE!

So the X Factor adventure was over for James Michael.

There were still 2 more categories to go and it was Tulisa who was next to reveal her decision, as she had to select 3 Groups for next-week!

The first-act the N-Dubz star had decided to put-through was.....RHYTHMIX!

The second-act the Groups' mentor had decided to put-through was.....THE RISK!

Only 2 Groups were left, with 1 more place up-for-grabs but that decision was down to Tulisa and in tears, she decided to put-through.....NU VIBE!

With the 3 Groups' selected meant that it was 2 Shoes whose X Factor journey had ended.

So the 9 acts were chosen and the last-mentor to reveal her decision was Kelly, who had to choose 3 acts from the Girls' category.

Kelly revealed that the first-act through was.....JANET!

The second-act that the ex-Destiny's Child star had decided to put-through was.....MISHA!

So it was between Amelia and Sophie for the last-remaining place for the next LIVE show and with a lot of emotion, Kelly had decided to put-through.....SOPHIE!

So it was Amelia, who opened the show on Saturday-night, that saw her X Factor adventure ending.

So that was all 4 categories' settled, which meant that Jonjo Kerr, James Michael, 2 Shoes and Amelia Lily were the FOUR acts' that sadly, left the £1 million recording-contract competition!

A dramatic-weekend it was for sure. A challenging Saturday-night for the contestants and a challenging Sunday-night for the judges!
