After weeks of auditions, the Bootcamp and the Judges' Houses, it was time for the start of the LIVE shows, as Weekend 1 finally came!
Saturday-night saw 12 acts turn to 13 acts thanks to a public vote for the WildCard act, as Christopher Maloney secured the 13th and final-place for the LIVE show.
Weekend 1 had the theme of Heroes Week, as all 13 acts performed songs inspired with the success of Team GB during the summer of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
For the first-time, phone/text lines had opened even before the start of all performances.
With the action of Saturday-night having passed-by, it was the action of Sunday-night next, with the first Results!
After performances from 2006 X Factor winner Leona Lewis and Grammy award-winning star Ne-Yo, the first results' were finally revealed!
11 guaranteed places for Weekend 2 were up-for-grabs whilst the 12th-place was to be decided by the judges with the Final Showdown.
The 2 acts that ended-up in the bottom-two and having to perform again in the Final Showdown were Carolynne Poole and Rylan Clark.
After both Rylan and Carolynne's performances, it was time for the judges' to make their decision.
Nicole was first to decide and defending her act, she decided to send home.....CAROLYNNE.
Gary was next-up and with no hesitation, he decided to send home.....RYLAN.
Tulisa, who saw all 3 of her acts through to Weekend 2, was next to decide and after quite some time, she decided to send home.....RYLAN.
The casting-vote turned-out to be the pressurising one, which was down to Louis, who saw all 3 of his acts through to Weekend 2.
Despite being instructed by Dermot to make his decision and with Gary and Nicole also talking-over, Louis said he wanted to keep Carolynne in the show and after being asked by Dermot to confirm his decision, Louis then decided to take the decision to.....DEADLOCK!
So it was 2 votes each for both Rylan and Carolynne, which resulted in going back to the public vote.
The act who received the fewest votes and was eliminated from the competition was.....CAROLYNNE.
The last and final 12th-place went to Rylan, which put him through to Weekend 2 and Carolynne's X Factor journey came to an end.
The result turned-out to be controversial, as Gary stormed-off when it was revealed.
