The X Factor series 9 - LIVE Show Weekend 8

DAYS LEFT FOR 9TH X FACTOR (SEMI-FINAL) LIVE SHOW: Only 5 days to go!

DAYS LEFT FOR 9TH X FACTOR (SEMI-FINAL) LIVE RESULTS' SHOW: Only 6 days to go!

DAYS LEFT FOR RELEASE OF LEONA LEWIS' NEW SINGLE 'LOVEBIRD': Only 7 days to go! (3rd December)

NEW RELEASES: Tulisa's new album 'Female Boss' and Olly Murs' new album 'Right Here Right Now' is OUT NOW

Another weekend of X Factor action saw a theme of Motown and ABBA, as 5 acts performed twice on that X Factor stage on Saturday-night to secure a place through to the Semi-Final, with the decision down to votes!

From a night of performances on Saturday-night, it became a night for those all-important results on Sunday-night.

After performances from both Bruno Mars and Rihanna, the results were finally revealed, as 4 places altogether were up-for-grabs, with the 4th to have been decided by the judges' vote, meaning that 3 places were up-for-grabs by the public vote.

The first-act who secured a place through to the Semi-Final was.....JAMES!

The second-act who made it through to the Semi-Final was.....CHRISTOPHER!

Only 1 more place from the public vote was up-for-grabs, as Jahmene, Rylan and Union J were the only acts left on-stage.

The third-act who secured that place through to the Semi-Final was.....JAHMENE!

Now there was only 1 more place remaining for the Semi-Final and that was to be decided by the judges, which meant that Rylan and Union J had to perform against each-other for the last remaining place, meaning that they received the fewest of votes. It also meant it was between Nicole and Louis' respective categories.

After Rylan performing first and Union J performing afterwards in the Final Showdown, it was decision time for the judges.

Nicole was first-up to decide and keeping it simple, she remained loyal to her act and opted to send home.....UNION J.

Louis was next to decide and also remaining loyal to his own act, he opted to send home.....RYLAN.

Gary was next-up to decide and praising both acts, he took the decision to send home.....RYLAN.

Left with the casting vote was Tulisa and also praising both acts, she decided to keep the act she felt that could sell records, meaning that the act she decided to send home was.....RYLAN.

So sadly, it meant that Rylan's X Factor journey came to an end, making him the first-act Nicole had lost, as Union J secured the 4th remaining place and were through to the Semi-Final.

Only 4 places for Weekend 9 are up-for-grabs, with 3 places decided by the public vote and the 4th place decided by the judges' vote in the Final Showdown, where the 2 acts with the fewest of public votes will end-up in, meaning that they would have to perform again.

Last-week's result proved that NO ONE is safe, so if you want YOUR favourite act to avoid being in that dreaded bottom-two, you need to VOTE NOW!

The X Factor series 9 - LIVE Show Weekend 7

DAYS LEFT FOR 8TH X FACTOR (QUARTER-FINAL) LIVE SHOW: Only 5 days to go!

DAYS LEFT FOR 8TH X FACTOR (QUARTER-FINAL) LIVE RESULTS' SHOW: Only 6 days to go!

DAYS LEFT FOR RELEASE OF OLLY MURS' NEW ALBUM 'RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME': Only 7 days to go! (26th November)

DAYS LEFT FOR RELEASE OF TULISA'S NEW ALBUM 'FEMALE BOSS': Only 7 days to go! (26th November)

NEW RELEASES: Little Mix' new album 'DNA' is OUT NOW!

Weekend 7 had the theme of Guilty Pleasures but it was also another weekend of live performances and tension-riding results.

Saturday-night, the attention was on the 6 acts, as it was all-about their performances, contesting against each-other in their bid to make it through to the Quarter-Finals of the £1 million recording contract.

The attention turned to the results on Sunday-night, as the 6 acts were to discover their fate in the competition, as 5 places were up-for-grabs for Weekend 8!

After performances from Alicia Keys and Olly Murs, it was time to reveal those all-important results.

With 4 places up-for-grabs by the public vote, the 5th remaining place was up-for-grabs by the judges' vote in the dreaded Final Showdown!

The first act who went through to the Quarter-Final was.....UNION J!

The second act who also went through to the Quarter-Final was.....RYLAN!

The third-act through to next-week's show was.....JAHMENE!

With 3 acts through, only 1 more place from the public vote was up-for-grabs and it was Ella, James and Christopher who were left on that X Factor stage, waiting to hear who secured that place.

The final-place from the public-vote to next-week's Quarter-Final was.....CHRISTOPHER!

The result turned-out to be the most-shocking and surprising ever, as it was Ella Henderson and James Arthur who received the fewest of public votes, resulting in them being in the bottom-two.

With Ella having to perform first and James performing afterwards, the judges' had to make their decision in the Final Showdown.

Tulisa was first to decide and venting her frustration, she took the decision to defend her act and with such difficulty, she opted to send home.....JAMES.

Nicole was next to decide and describing the result as 'a travesty,' she defended her own act and opted to send home.....ELLA.

Louis, who saw his last remaining act through, was next-up to decide and despite hailing both acts, he decided to send home.....JAMES.

Gary, who also saw his last remaining act through, was last-up to decide and despite complimenting both acts, he decided to send home.....ELLA.

The decision was 2 votes each for Ella and James, meaning that the result went to DEADLOCK.

Referring back to the public vote, the 1 act who received fewer votes and was leaving the competition was.....ELLA.

It was James who secured the 5th remaining place in the Quarter-Final, which also sadly meant that Ella's X Factor journey came to an end,

So it's Nicole who has all 3 of her acts intact, with Gary and Louis also with a remaining act in their respective categories, leaving Tulisa with no more acts.

Missed or want to watch all of the action from Weekend 7 again? You can watch both The X Factor and The Xtra Factor online NOW on the ITV Player @ http://www.itv.com/itvplayer

Good luck to all 5 remaining acts, the judges/mentors, the presenters and everyone of the X Factor team!
