The race for the £1 million recording contract approached halfway-point, as the competition entered Weekend 5.

With the theme of Number One's and with an sudden departure, the 8 acts performed on that X Factor stage to show that they had what it took to remain in the race for that £1 million recording contract!

Saturday-night was all-about the performances whilst Sunday-night was all-about the results.

After performances from guest-judge Rita Ora and US band No Doubt, it was time to reveal those tension-ridden results, with 6 places up-for-grabs from the public vote with the 7th remaining place up-for-grabs from the Final Showdown.

The 2 acts that had received the fewest of public votes, was Rylan Clark and Kye Sones, which meant that they had to perform in the Final Showdown for the judges' vote. It was a contest between Nicole and Gary's respective categories.

After their bottom-two performances, it was decision-time for the judges/mentors.

Nicole was first to decide and defending her act, she decided to send home.....KYE.

Gary was next to decide and without any hesitation, he decided to send home.....RYLAN.

Louis, who saw both of his acts go-through to next-week's show, was next to decide. He decided to send home.....RYLAN.

Tulisa was left to make the casting-vote and after quite a while, she decided to send home.....KYE.

So it was 2 votes each for both Rylan and Kye, which meant that the result went to DEADLOCK.

Referring back to the public vote, the 1 act that received fewer votes and was leaving the competition was.....KYE.

It was the end of an X Factor journey for Kye, which meant that the 7th and last remaining place went to Rylan.

Good luck to the 7 remaining acts and the eliminated acts, the judges/mentors, the presenters and everyone of the X Factor team!
